As we move into February we are wondering what the hot collectables for 2008 will be.
2008 brings us the 25th anniversary of Lillput Lane and events to celebrate this are planned throughout Europe. Meissen celebrates its 300th anniversary of the invention of fine red porcelain by Johann Friedrich Bottger – which marked the beginning of the European porcelain industry and there is to be an exhibition at the company’s museum until March 2008.
There is quite a large choice of collectables that will only be available in 2008 and thus making them perfect collectors’ pieces. Lalique’s Sheherazade and Buddha perfume bottles are lovely. They are filled with scent suitable for male and female and make ideal collectables as well a lovely presents. They are £580 each.
Halcyon Days includes a pretty box, decorated with water lilies among its 2008 designs which retails at £105. Royal Doulton has produced several 2008 figures and you should look out for Olivia, Lady Victoria May and Anabel.
Wedgewood has new Jasper designs, including the Calendar plate. The Annual Year Plate is a delicate cream design featuring Father Time on a rose pink ground.
